CNN reports that two people died and 19 others fell ill at a central Arizona resort after spending time in a sweatlodge during a program by self-help expert James Arthur Ray, authorities said Saturday.
This is the first time I’ve heard of a death or illness during a sweat, and I’m sure many will be shocked.
I got this email from James this morning:
“Out of respect for the deceased and their loved ones and for those who have taken ill and for whose speedy recovery we pray, we will not be replying to individual postings. Instead, we thank you for writing, and we hope you will share in our continued wishes of support, strength and comfort to all those impacted by this tragedy.
We also want everyone to know that a friend has been at the hospital monitoring the condition of those still ill. Our love and warm affection is with all who mourn and with all of you in this time of grief, sadness and challenge.”
According to CNN, the dead were identified as James Shore of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Kirby Brown of Westtown, New York, Sheriff Lloyd Waugh told reporters. They were among the 50 or so visitors at the Angel Valley Resort near Sedona attending Ray’s “Spiritual Warrior” program.
Waugh said investigators are looking into evidence that “may turn this into a criminal prosecution.”
Love to the grieving families, he loved ones are freed of the suffering of this world and and a speedy recovery to the injured, I hope we find out soon what happens.
