Invitation to a Creative Event ~ ‘We Are Magic’
- To hold a space for people to be creative and share in each other’s creativity. (Co-creation. ‘We are all artists’)
- To live my dreams and be all that I am.
- Hold a space for others to realise and live their dreams and be all that they are.
- Serve and honour the Earth by creating awareness of how we affect the planet and offering simple alternatives.
- To celebrate life, Spirit, people and Earth.
- Have lots of fun!
You are invited to participate in a magical event, to be held outdoors in Johannesburg early in June (details to be confirmed.) The theme is ‘We Are Magic’ and the idea is this; we invite people, families, friends, acquaintances, etc to a creative event which we all create together, everyone is a participant in some way. It’s a fun day, a space to play; dress up; pretend to be someone or something else; share ideas, jokes or stories; laugh, relax, be wild, be timid, enjoy, meet new people, learn new skills, dance, give and receive gifts and ultimately whatever you want.
The principle is a space where people can come together and engage creatively with one another, forget about their worries and concerns, play and have fun and enjoy nature. “Being creative” can be as simple as dressing up (which everyone’s encouraged to do) or as involved as holding a mini-workshop. It’s your space.
Because it’s to be held in a natural setting (and just because it’s important), we’re also holding the awareness of our affects on Mother Nature and how we can care for her more. Therefore the entrance fee is to bring some organic food to share with the other participants, as well as something to give to the homeless and hungry. Everyone is encouraged to, if/when creating something for the event, to re-use rather they buy new materials.
There’ll be containers to collect paper, plastic and tin for recycling at the event and we’re going to clean up the surrounding areas after the event, or maybe make a game out of it.
So I’m looking for people who would like to hold this space with me- people who resonate with the intentions of the event. Holding the space would mean committing to being at the event (obviously) and using your creativity, skills and other resources to create a space where you and others can be creative.
Maybe you have a game you’d like to share or, because the theme is ‘we are magic’ you’d like to dress up as a sorcerer and give magic potions to people or… It’s up to you. I have some games I’d like to facilitate and ideas for a treasure hunt, among others.
Everyone who’s invited will have the same opportunity as the hosts to do what they want; at this stage I’m just looking for a core group of people so that we have something more solid to work from.
The event will probably take place on Saturday 2nd June and be held either at Emmarencia or Gillooly’s Farm, but these details will be confirmed closer to the time. If you know of any other outdoor places/ parks that would be suitable, let me know.
And in case this isn’t clear, everyone is invited, young, old, anyone!
The Theme:
We are all magic, we are all creators.
Below are some words I thought of, which for me relates to the theme, perhaps they’ll inspire you…
Magician. Dove. Sorcerer. Source. Treasure box. Water into Wine. Creators of our universe. Laughter. Wonder. Out of thin air. Genie. Spells. Love potions. Other potions. Magic wands. White horse. Synchronicity. Fantasy/reality. God-self. Hearts around trees. Children doing magic tricks. Witches. Fire. Contortionists. Acrobatics. Clowning. Crystals. Magic pathways.
Try this to generate some ideas- write Magic in the centre of a page and all the words or ideas that come to you when you think of magic around it.
Here are some of the elements I’d like to be present at the event and ideas I have. Perhaps one or more of the following attracts you and you’d like to contribute in that way.
- Fire
- Tarot reading
- Magician (It would be awesome to have some children doing those cool magic tricks)
- Decorations
- Magical path way (I’m going to handle this one)
- Treasure hunts
- A cauldron (or poitjie pot) to put gifts in (put one in, take one out)
- Games
- Sharing ‘magic spells’ and/or potions
- Fantasy games
- ‘Witches’
- A fun game which involves cleaning up litter.
