A call for volunteers at Envirochild (Hout bay Transition Town)

I read about Transition Town a few times recently and even heard a
program on Radio 2000 about this Hout Bay initiative. This is the way
forward for us, fellow suburbanites and when I got this message from
my friend Barbara Cowley, I had to blog it :)

Change is coming whether we like it or not – and a planned response to
the change will leave us in a much stronger position than if we wait
until change is upon us.

Envirochild goals

To empower our community to respond effectively to energy and
infrastructure limitations as well as rapidly increasing fuel prices..
To educate towards a reduction in consumption, energy efficiency and
conservation awareness
To propose and actively work towards workable solutions for the
integration of townships into Hout Bay that provide adequate, shelter,
security and amenities.
To host regular GREEN FAIRES to promote the use of environmentally
friendly and efficient products and the importance of growing our own
food.
To build community consciousness and strengthen the local economy
through supporting local initiatives.
