This intensive training has two components;
The first component of the training is to provide practical tools and skills for anyone working with clients in an individual setting. These tools and skills will assist them to be grounded, present and mindful when working with their clients. At the same time they will also be able to use these tools to guide their clients through a process of a direct somatic experience to ensure a more focused and solution orientated session. Being present and mindful will deepen and enhance the relationship between the facilitator of the session and their clients.
The second component is to learn and experience the powerful method of Family & Systemic Constellations Work (FSC). Every participant will have the opportunity to embark on their own development work and exploration of personal blind spots. In this somatically based, phenomenological process each participant will experience a new way of being present or holding mindful attention of body sensations and emotions. The body is used as a tool in this almost non-verbal way of working to discover, unfold and resolve hidden dynamics and entanglements which belong to the participant’s family or any other system. The process allows an actual experiencing of what a human system is and of the inter-connectedness of each member of the system. The consequences of imbalances or exclusions in a system and the impact this has on the system and the client, will be understood not only in terms of theory, but will be physically experienced. The skill of working with the method of FSC will be learnt through experiential processes and theory.
Training Outcomes
By the end of this training each participant will:
- Be able to open a space of groundedness and stillness for self and client in a session

- Map out the family history of a client, or an organisation
- Identify which systemic resources could be useful for a client or an organisation
- Use these identified systemic resources to strengthen the client
- Understand phenomenological perception and its benefits
- Facilitate a constellation within an individual session
Who is it for?
This course is for anybody whose work brings them into contact with family and other social systems, for example:
- Therapists, counsellors, health professionals and those in related fields
- Social care professionals working with children and families, marginalized social groups and refugees.
- Those working in the field of substance abuse and in the criminal justice system.
As it is a method for dealing with human systems that can help to find a place for every member of the system, this approach integrates with and deepens other resolution-oriented perspectives. At this foundation level the training is offered as an enrichment of existing practice and not as a qualification. This course rather offers an excellent grounding in the theory and practice of this work from two of South Africa’s leading facilitators.
