GM Foods and Looking for a Venue in Johannesburg for White Tantric Yoga June 2011

The Yogic Path

GM FOODS ARE NOT AYOBA
They benefit only big business who is hiding behind the purported aim of 'saving world hunger'. Actually, GM Foods mess with our DNA and especially children's. We have a specific and small window of opportunity until January 31st. Our heroes are Mariam and Haidee and others who have effected incremental legal victories and awareness building. Respond before January 31st to the proposed regulations in the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) governing the labelling of Genetically Modified (GM) food. The regulations are weak and undermine the consumer's right to know the GM status of a food. You can read more about what's wrong with the legislation at www.labelgmfoods.org.za. Since our supermarket shelves are full of foods that contain GM ingredients it has never been more critical that food labelling is accurate and transparent. The African Centre for Biosafety (ACB) and SAFEAGE are intent on protecting your rights, demanding certain changes that ensure everyone's right to know.  You can read these demands and the actual petition at www.labelgmfoods.org.za. Send this also to your friends. Or, if you prefer, write directly to the department asserting your right to know what is in your food and the correct identification of GM ingredients; send an email to Mr Ntutuzelo Vananda e-mail at cparegs@thedti.gov.za .

The Yogic Path became so fundamental for me..

i knew i would love it so much, enough to help me cross the hurdles.. irritations and alienations there are many.. what makes us, past our resistances, come back again and again, for more…? if i cannot involve myself, it is my loss.. never mind any gifts i may not be able to share.. that is secondary.. but first and foremost i may not find the connection. it is crucial for us to stay close to an edge that sometimes appears bitter and demanding but is in fact sweet. only at the edge can we offer ourselves and draw out our best.. we don't always dance willingly towards our most truthful expression. hence ashram life was recommended.. as we speak, i look at three decades of yoga, to the day. ashram life with its intense rules forces us to touch the bedrock of our true nature. (would you like me to tell you about that next time?) pritam

"LAUGH because that is your purpose in life.  LOVE because that is what you came here for. SHINE because that is important. SHARE because it is demanded of you.

Yogi Bhajan

White Tantric Yoga

All our experiences feed through the hypothalamus' body mind axis..
We know something to be as it is by how it feels in our body and the senses.
Helena reminded me that life coach Martha Beck asks us to anchor this through the 'body compass' – rate your most awesome memory right up there and give it a name!
(When our son was small, his gran gave him a tiny lego for his 3rd birthday, a plane set. He made around twenty variations and gave each a name, like Monk's Moon and Klong Stark..Naming clearly anchors something good!) So you can be poetic with the name you give to a peak experience, all the better to memorize it!

My deepest experiences take me to when I feel devotion towards the collective consciousness and when I feel one with all concerns as mine and hold them awash and alight in meditative awareness and prayer.
I remember the White Tantric Days as some of the most beautiful meditations.
Originally presided over by the master, Yogi Bhajan, in person and later through his subtle body radiance.
I am awed by processes that are not linear. I have learned that – learning may not come when I stand in front of the door, stomping my foot, demanding entrance.
Learning comes from a task unwillingly done, but done nevertheless.
Humility and service, in fact, give natural rewards.

During the White Tantric Yoga, I have a memory of being in a highly uncomfortable posture for an hour whilst having a frame-by-frame memory of a past lifetime. A trickle of pain and a slow feeling of ecstasy. I love how Tantric presses my re-set button and freshens and fluffs up my subconscious.. Less clutter, more newness.. Yogi Bhajan talks of the z-energy..Imagine Zorro, whipping the sword, collapsing the incongruous. In a WhiteTantric day, many miracles happen. They are as individual as we are. But the group meridian is part of each and everyone's healing. It is not surprising that the kriya you liked best your neighbour hated – and visa versa! It is so individual. Attend with a friend or your partner if s/he is willing but note that you can just as readily go by yourself. After all, it is just a day of deep meditation sitting facing a partner. Sometimes your eyes are open, sometimes closed, sometimes you hold hands and sometimes not – and that's as up, close and personal as it gets.
