Your friend did a good job on writing about Hamakuya. I sure would want to visit it soon to know more about their culture.

This isn't my article actually, but one that I got from a friend, when I was still experimenting with how to build my site. And I do agree, this is a beautiful article about a lovely place. It will be great to welcome you to South Africa :-)

Ndi masiari. Oops Am i too late to post? Very interesting. I went through your blog Sally and it just reminded me of home Hamakuya. I am now based in Pretoria but do visit the village now and then. I used to carry firewood and 25L of water on my head without support i swear. Things have changed now my daughter cannot do what i used to do in the village but she can do a traditional dance a bit and I try hard not to laugh. Hamakuya is big and i am sure there are more than 50 cars in total. In which area were you at Sally? I do not know these paople in the photos except Fhatuwani. I am from Khavhambe and his home is close-by at Mutshikilini. Is he still staying there? I miss village people.

Hi Rofhiwa. Thanks for dropping by, and your offer to translate. I unfortunately don't know tshivenda at all (perhaps one day I'll learn :-) so if you'd like to add in a translation in the comments section, that would be great. I am working on a project to teach rural kids internet marketing, that's still early days, but would love to present that in tsivenda, so keep in touch and lets see if we can work together on that when the time's right.
Check it out and join the conversation that's happening already, http://teach-me-internet-marketing.com.

yep. its very interesting that people from far way come to visit our . our lovely eden full of plenty natural resources. just add and give some extra information that was not well indicted about Ha makuya. Hamakuya is a large village that on its own has divided into Small vilage. example is Guyuni. guyuni is a small village Under Hamakuya. there is one Chief that rule the all the village and under the village the is a head man who get instruction from the chief on how to rule.

on the issue of the lacations Makuya is located on the Far north east of Limpopo province under mutale Municipality. and its closer to the Border of Zimbabwe (not Zambia as written above) again the language spoken the is not related to zambian language but Zimbabwian becouse of orign of venda peoples. on the information of people speaking English yes the majority of people ther find it little bit diffucult to use it couse of deprived education privileges becouse of the previous apartheid system but now things a changing slow. but still i can tell you in the whole of Hamakuya the so many young profesionals who works mainly in town and out side the province.
in my conclusion to this though there is a lot of information that i feel i can i would like the writter of this to go back again at Ha makuya get reliable source on how to get real information on hamakuya as i feel and believe that lot of information here on this article is not correct and is totally misleading and undermining me as proud and bonafide child of makya.

again i would like to thanks and appreacite the writter for interest and effort to changes and contributions that she has done to my beatiful land of my birth.
