Last Night a DJ Slayed My Wife – A Halloween Party At The Racquet in Melville 31 October 2009

A Horror Halloween party is happening, and if you fancy getting dressed for the occasion you may well find yourselves with a surprise gift afterwards…
We’ll be firing up the Funk Engines at 8 (going on till late…) but you’re welcome to pop by a bit earlier for some relaxed vintage grooves if you feel like it…

The Racquet has recently been taken under the wing of Grant Baily who was the man behind the fondly remembered Color Bar. It’s a special kind of venue, for a special kind of crowd. The club house has a charismatic old school character, a wood finish, with seating around the edges, plus sofa’s to lounge on. Outside there’s the lawn – with more seating, a fire and the warm summer air!

Musically – The Funk Formula is all about old & new school sounds – so expect to hear lots of well known, and lesser known funk jams. We throw a whole bunch of different flavours into the Formula, Soul, Rap, Swing, Jazz, Rare Groove, Hip Hop, Nu-Funk, Disco, Nu Disco etc etc… All this on quality sound system Рgood music sounding good!

The idea is to create a regular gig dedicated to Funk music where folk can drop by for a few drinks, enjoy the evening air, meet fellow funksters and shoot the breeze Рplus if the mood takes them, step onto the floor for a super groovy get down…
We’d love to see you and hope you’ll bring some of your funky friends – in short – we all wanna have a funkin good time!
