Quirk had this article on personal branding, something that I’ve been actively doing for a few years now. I believe that everyone should grow themselves as a brand and own a piece of online real estate.
And if you can make a business out of it like Chris Brogan or Joel Comm, so much better for you. I like the idea of a Google CV that they talk about and personally I’m happy to dominate the first page of SERPS for my name with all my social network profiles, even if I don’t use them all.
But why should you be so concerned about yourself being on Google?
I don’t know about why you’d want to be but I know that about 10% of the traffic to my site, http://harounkola.com comes from people who search for people who are on my Facebook friendlist. I don’t know if its you searching for yourself, but if you are one of my friends, try it and see where you rank
