I got this from Vivienne who’s hosting the sustainability course at her place, Rhino Beetle Backpackers. Here’s the email that Wayne sent her:
I just had a phone call from a representative from one of the companies I approached for sponsoring 10 participants.
They are prepared to part-sponsor up to 10 people …. and there’d be no commitment needed in return!!
This is their deal … if the participant pays their Registration Fee (R300.00) and R200.00 on a weekly basis, the company will pay the balance.
I would need to verify the participants’ weekly attendance, & the Company would pay at the end of each month for those who attend.
I thought about those people who couldn’t afford the full fee, like Jenien Sinclair & the lady who wanted to come with her 3 grown-up children, maybe Danielle Ehrlich, Jolene Roestof, Rachel Roos, Kathy Herzfield, Bridget Fahey-Goldsmith, Iona Cameron. Are you still in touch with them?

If they still can’t afford the R200 per week, then I’ll try & get the sponsors to cover another R50 each per week, bringing it to a cost of R150.00 per person per week. If our possible participants can’t afford the R200.00 & can pay the R150.00 amount, and the company won’t cover the R50, then I’ll just cover that R50 each from my own pocket, but I think we need to give them that extra chance to be on the course!!!
Please let me know asap, as I need to order the extra Course Manual Booklets tomorrow, before lunch if possible.
Otherwise, it seems everything else is falling into place by the grace of the Universe ….
