Our country’s hopes seem to be non existent after our second match in the latest edition of the world cup and we maybe the first country to not make it to the second round.
But I believe this will be a blessing in disguise. The euphoria of hosting this commercial spectacle has covered over many of the of the social problems in our society and by extension our planet(BP is one of the sponsors and here’s hardly any conversation about that, regardless of the world’s attention on the oil spill).
It feels like the open bus tour and the opening match was the highlight of this competition for our team and our nation.
And I like it that way. I enjoyed being part of the crowd that day and felt deep within me that if we could feel that blissful in our own beings without externalising it with all these celebrity soccer players and other associated celebs, we’d get a clearer understanding of the radiance of our own beings.
And now perhaps the world’s attention can turn to the really important things in life, like turning our nawareness to our immortal souls, treating others with kindness and respect, and being loving (fat chance I hear you say, and you’re probably right, for now)
I do have faith in the human spirit though and even though it will probably take much more tragedy to strike before we do turn all our attention to our purpose on Earth.
Are you with me?
