Against the backdrop of the 2010 World Cup lead-up, Hooking in JoBurg takes a personal look at Sex Workers and the core issues around HIV, security, human rights and decriminalization of Sex Work. The Sex Workers reveal a concerning reality about their current working conditions and the undeniable police brutality.
The documentary gains key perspectives from three Sex Workers providing an open forum for their human voices. All three women bestow a concerning reality about their current working conditions with regards to the undeniable police brutality that either themselves or fellow Sex Workers have felt. Would they feel safer if the South African government decriminalized ‘Sex Work’?
Where are their human rights? As well as the Sex Workers, interviews with experts from Sex Worker Projects, Health organisations and departments such as UNFPA, nurses and clinicians who work personally with Sex Workers and even brothel managers provide an insight from their perspectives.
The full length documentary has now been made private by the owner of the YouTube channel. I did find this 2 minute clip online though by the content creator called ethnic quota . There are 2 additional clips on that channel included in this playlist.
